How It's Made

Painted First. Carried After.

What goes into every Skullette piece, from the first brushstroke to the parcel room.

Step by step

How We Make Each Piece

Five steps, in the order they happen in the studio.

Step 1

The painting

Every design begins as a real painting. Ivory skulls, blood red roses, deep color and gold, made before any bag exists.

Step 2

Onto the leather

The finished artwork is laid across the leather edge to edge, so there is no front side and no plain side.

Step 3

Cut and stitch

Each panel is cut to shape and stitched into a structured body that holds its lines.

Step 4

The hardware

Estate hardware last: antiqued chains, clasps, studs and rivets, matched to the artwork they carry.

Step 5

Checked by hand

Seams, zippers, straps and print. Every piece is checked against the artwork proof before it is packed.

Your choice

Two Materials, One Artwork

Many pieces come in two material options. Same painting, same hardware, same shape. You choose what it is made of.

Option 1 · every piece

Premium Faux Leather

  • Animal free · no hides, with the same structured look.
  • Light to carry · through a full day on your shoulder.
  • Easy to keep · wipes clean with a damp cloth.
  • The accessible choice · the lower of the two prices.
Option 2 · select pieces

Top-Grain Leather

  • Italian leather · buttery-soft, with the weight to match.
  • Natural hide · real grain that softens and gains character.
  • Extra durable · the strongest material we offer.
  • The keeper's choice · worth the higher price.

Both options and both prices are listed on every product page.

Care

How to Care for Your Piece

Four simple habits keep it beautiful for years.

1

Keep it dry

If it gets wet, wipe it with a soft cloth and let it dry away from heat.

2

Store it shaped

Keep it stuffed and out of direct sunlight when you are not carrying it.

3

Condition the top-grain

A little leather conditioner once or twice a year keeps top-grain leather soft. Faux leather only needs a damp cloth.

4
